The glaze and firing process
We try our best to ensure that your time spent in our studio is both a therapeutic and fun experience. After you leave, the final part of the journey involves the glazing and firing of your pottery. It is important to bear in mind that, unlike automatically mass-produced pottery, the joy is in creating your products by hand-crafting including subjecting it to the many permutations of manual kiln loading. These key factors can never be an exact science, all of which can influence the finished product. We always strive for perfection, however on rare occasions this is not always achieved first time. If we do see any issues with your piece, after firing, we will always explain the option to discuss your preference in how to deal with any problem. Though it may seem frustrating, you will find that only few still functional items are determined needy of re-work, or rejection, as it is often the charm they present that is particularly rewarding.
