Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to book?
    Booking is highly advised as we love to accept walk-ins, but there is no guarantee we will have space at your chosen time - especially at busy times like the school holidays! Please book for the number people on the table not just painters so that everyone can have a seat. At least 50% of your booking need to be painters
  • How much does it cost
    You will only pay for the pottery you choose to paint on the day and any of our lovely cakes and refreshments you order. You can pick special glazing effects for an additional fee. Our pottery stock is always evolving, for this reason we do not have a set price list. Our pieces always range from £14 to £50. You will find the prices of our pottery on the bottom of each piece when you are choosing on the day.
  • Opening Hours
    Our regular opening hours are Thursday to Sunday 10am - 5pm We are a small independent business and sometimes we need to recharge our batteries and take the odd break. Social media and google will be updated if this is the case!
  • Coffee & Cakes
    We are a pottery painting studio and not a Coffee Shop and when booking a table 50% of your party need to be painters. We pride ourselves on providing the best coffee from local Brazier Roasters and provide a full range of bespoke hot and cold drinks. We provide a daily changing selection of sweet and savoury treats to devour whilst you are painting.
  • Evening Sip & Paint Sessions
    We have a couple of Sip and Paint evening sessions every month for adults 18+ Please keep an eye on our website & socials to see these sessions online and see what dates are upcoming each month. Bring your own bubbles & snacks and enjoy a chilled creative evening with friends. There is £10 studio fee per person, all pottery you choose to paint on the evening is individually priced. Arrive at 6pm and sessions last for 3 hours.
  • Session Times & No Show Fees
    Booking is essential as we run sessions throughout the day. If you are a little late for your session we will keep your table for 15 minutes but this will shorten your session painting time as we will be booked for new painters following your session and will need the table to be cleared and available for that time. We charge a no- show fee of £10 which will be taken from your card supplied at booking.
  • Collection
    Your fired pottery will usually be ready within 10 days but this can be longer during holidays. We are open Thursday to Sunday for collections and you have a month to come and pick up your pieces. Your pottery will be under the name of the original booking, you will be given a collection card that we ask you to bring to collect your pottery.
  • What if I am not local to the area to collect my piece?
    We are more than happy to post your item to you we do charge packaging and postage according to the size of the piece you paint and although we take care to wrap your pottery as best we can, posting is at your own risk.
  • Can I bring my children even if I don't paint?
    Everyone is welcome at Bisque & Fire please come and watch the kids get creative whilst you relax with a coffee. All we ask is that 50% of your party are painters during your booked session
  • I did not finish my painting on the day can I return
    Yes. Payment for your chosen bisque piece and initial session will be taken before starting. If you do not finish painting your pottery during your initial session, we can store it for you and you can return up to 3 times depending on the piece. There will be a £5 fee each time you return to paint. Non-painting persons, returning are also welcome if accompanying you paying the standard Studio fees. If your item is not collected, we are only able to keep your pottery for one month, so please bear this in mind and keep in touch with us if you wish to return.
  • Parking
    Long stay parking is for cars and motorcycles with an all-day charge available. Culverhayes car park (DT9 3ED) has 263 car parking spaces, 2 motorcycle spaces and free public toilets. This car park is open for 24 hours but has a height restriction of 2.1m between 6pm and 8am. There are two 22kw Electric Vehicle charge points at this car park. Coldharbour car park (DT9 4HA) has 67 car parking spaces and one motorcycle space, plus one 22kw and one 60kw Electric Vehicle charge points. Acreman Street car park (DT9 3NX) has 45 car parking spaces and one motorcycle space. The Railway Station car park (DT9 3NB) has 67 spaces with charges for all day, weekend or 7 days (Monday to Sunday). Short stay parking is for cars and motorcycles and are the least expensive options for staying for 3 hours or less. Digby Hall car park (DT9 3FE) has 46 car parking spaces.  Old Market Yard car park (DT9 3HR) has 109 car parking spaces and 2 motorcycle spaces, plus two 22kw and one 50kw Electric Vehicle charge points, and free public toilets. Newland North car park (DT9 4HA) has 54 car parking spaces and one motorcycle space.  There is a car park at Sainsbury’s supermarket (DT9 3ND) which has 193 spaces and a maximum stay of 2 hours. Charges apply.
  • Accessibility
    Our space is a space for everyone. We have room for wheelchair users to paint comfortably, accessible toilets and baby change facilities. If you are visiting as a support worker, please include everyone arriving in the booking so even non- painters have a seat.
  • Are Dogs Welcome
    Dogs are welcome but please be aware of the creative pottery environment so they need to be well behaved and calm. If you are bringing along an anxious dog, please rethink as our space can get rather hectic and we want everyone to have their best visit with us.
  • Gift Vouchers
    Gift vouchers are available to purchase in store alternatively purchase and send online for the perfect creative gift.
  • Bringing along babies?
    Let us know in your booking note section if you are bringing babies requiring space for a pram or if you need a highchair reserved so we can make sure we have the right space booked for you and have enough high chairs for your session.
